Okanagan MLA to Lead Review of Alternative Strategies to Address Impacts of Aging on BC Health System

Norm Letnick MLA

The BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) has welcomed the appointment of Kelowna-Lake Country MLA Norm Letnick to lead an all party committee of the BC legislature to consider alternative strategies to address the impacts of more seniors coming into our provincial health care system. The 10-member committee will include MLAs from both parties represented in the Legislature. They are expected to hold hearings in the coming months before submitting a preliminary report to the BC Legislature when it reconvenes again - likely this fall.

BCCPA CEO Ed Helfrich said, "We are very pleased this Committee has been established and Mr. Letnick is leading it. Our Association has established a strong track record of promoting innovative ways to improve the quality, efficiency and sustainability of our seniors care system over the past 30 years. We are eager to share this grassroots perspective to improve our seniors care system for BC families."

BCCPA will be in contact with Mr. Letnick's office in the coming days. Among other things BCCPA will offer to facilitate direct meetings and/or site visits between committee members and care providers to gain a more direct perspective from the people who are actually operating within the system now.
