2011 BC Care Provider Conference Wraps-up in Whistler

BCCPA's Annual Conference and General meeting is a great opportunity for seniors care providers to network, and renew existing friendships

Close 250 seniors care providers, exhibits and health care leaders attended the BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) 34th Annual Conference and General Meeting this week in Whistler. BCCPA CEO Ed Helfrich said, "This conference has been one of our largest ever. The feedback we received has been very positive and we look forward to following up on many of the discussions that were started this week."

In addition to networking and renewing friendships, care providers attended various workshops to discuss best practices and seniors care trends. Presenters at the conference included representatives of the BC Care Aide Registry, Canadian Healthcare Association and WorkSafe BC. Care providers also debated a passed a three policy resolutions focused on:

  • improving and strengthening the BC Care Aide Registry to prevent elder abuse
  • reallocation of provincial client user fees to improve quality of seniors acre
  • moving seniors more quickly from acute to community home or residential care
