Healthcare Benefit Trust Takes Community Agencies to Court to Collect Controversial New Fees

cbc-logo.pngOver the holidays, more problems emerged with the Healthcare Benefit Trust (HBT) and the controversial enforcement of new exit fees on BC seniors care providers and community agencies serving the most vulnerable members of society. Contrary to previous assurances and ongoing discussions with the government, HBT initiated court action to collect payment demands they issued in the fall. CBC Radio's Jason Proctor produced a full report on the issue over the holidays which aired across the province last week.

The BC Care Providers Association (BCCPA) has expressed their disappointment with HBT's court action and is working collaboratively with its members and the social service agencies also impacted by this action.
