Further to previous progress on mitigation of the BC Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) for the seniors' care sector, Health Authorities across the province have now responded to the Deputy Minister of Health's February directive to ensure contracted residential care providers are kept whole with respect the financial impact of the HST.
A special survey has been distributed to for-profit care providers that will estimate the financial impact of the HST and develop a formula for the necessary funding adjustment. BCCPA is pleased to report that we have received confirmation that Assisted Living facilities will also be included in the mitigation plan. This progress is in addition to the non-profit and hydro credits that were confirmed earlier this year. Care providers are being asked to complete the survey by the end of this month.
