Seniors in care will be spared service cuts resulting from federal-provincial tax harmonization. The B.C. Care Providers Association say the Ministry of Health has confirmed that contracted for-profit residential care providers will "receive mitigation" to address the HST.

A review by the industry association last summer predicted annual losses of more than $10 million, meaning staff layoffs and service cuts.
"This is a big relief for us," said BCCPA President Christine Nidd.
